Lockdown Day 19

The birth of a new family ritual… the Easter bonnet competition!

We now have a weekly drinks party with the core members of the Ross family, every Saturday evening. It’s a great way of keeping in touch and more fun than regular phone or video updates. Last week my middle sister (Jig) came up with the idea of an Easter bonnet competition, and we had so much fun creating and then judging each other’s entries that I think it safe to say this will be repeated every Easter from now on!

Sue and Jon’s creations each featured a bird’s nest (!) with a plastic duck stuck in one, a dinosaur in the other…

Julia had created a bonnet for Joshi made of coloured papers…

Jig (shown left) had made a crown celebrating the NHS with rainbow colours; Keith a judge’s wig made up of loo-rolls (sadly no photos were taken!)

Amy (right) had created a rather smart hat with cream eggs, and Mark had constructed a very topically themed box hat encouraging us all to Stay at Home. The effect was however rather sinister!

Prue and I had enjoyed constructing 2 floral works of art for most of the day. I’m not sure if it was the amount of time or the finished effect that did it for us but we won the prize!
